Title: Living the Vision: Advancing God’s Kingdom at PIWC Hemel Hempstead
By Elder Mawunyo Doe Worgbah, Local Minister
The vision of PIWC Hemel Hempstead is not just a statement of intent but a clarion call to fulfill the Great Commission with unwavering faithfulness and a supernatural focus. Our declaration—“To Make And Deploy Mature And Equipped Christians Who Are Intentional, Transformational And Supernatural, And To Stimulate An Appetite For Missions That Creates Culture-Shaping Disciples In Every Sphere Of Influence”—is firmly rooted in Scripture. This divine mandate directs our efforts as a church to grow spiritually, impact the community, and expand the Kingdom of God.
1. Making and Deploying Mature and Equipped Christians
The Apostle Paul reminds us in Ephesians 4:12-13 that God’s purpose for the church is “to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”
At PIWC Hemel Hempstead, we are dedicated to nurturing believers into spiritual maturity, equipping them with the tools to serve effectively. This is achieved through:
- Systematic Teaching of the Word: Deep study of Scripture strengthens faith (Romans 10:17) and equips believers to “correctly handle the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). Our sermons, Bible studies, and training sessions aim to build strong doctrinal foundations.
- Prayer and Spiritual Disciplines: James 5:16 declares, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” Cultivating prayer, fasting, and worship enables believers to remain aligned with God’s will.
- Mentorship and Discipleship Programs: As Paul discipled Timothy (2 Timothy 2:2), we prioritize mentorship, pairing seasoned believers with newer members to foster spiritual growth.
Impact: A mature and equipped believer is a beacon of light in their home, workplace, and community. They are intentional in living out the Gospel, influencing others through their faith, integrity, and love.
2. Intentional and Transformational Living
Jesus calls His followers to be “salt and light” (Matthew 5:13-16). This metaphor challenges Christians to be intentional in their influence, transforming the world around them by reflecting Christ’s character. At PIWC Hemel Hempstead, we emphasize intentionality by:
- Encouraging Purpose-Driven Lives: Members are guided to discover their God-given purpose and pursue it with diligence (Jeremiah 29:11).
- Engaging in Acts of Service: From community service to youth mentorship, we are dedicated to demonstrating God’s love through practical deeds (James 2:17).
- Promoting Excellence: As Daniel distinguished himself in Babylon (Daniel 6:3), so too must believers excel in their vocations, earning the trust and respect of those they seek to influence.
Impact: Transformation begins when believers live with purpose and integrity. They become catalysts for change, demonstrating how a life anchored in Christ can positively impact families, workplaces, and communities.
3. Operating in the Supernatural
The early church was marked by supernatural power. Acts 1:8 declares, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…” This power is not for show but for witness, bringing people to the knowledge of Christ. At PIWC Hemel Hempstead, we aim to live in the supernatural by:
- Creating a Spirit-Filled Atmosphere: Our worship services invite the presence of God, allowing the Holy Spirit to move freely (2 Corinthians 3:17).
- Encouraging the Use of Spiritual Gifts: Believers are taught to recognize and operate in their spiritual gifts, such as prophecy, healing, and discernment (1 Corinthians 12:4-11).
- Trusting God for Miracles: Testimonies of healing, deliverance, and provision affirm God’s power and inspire faith in the church and community.
Impact: The supernatural dimension reveals the reality of God’s Kingdom, breaking through barriers of doubt and opening hearts to the Gospel.
4. Stimulating an Appetite for Missions
Missions lie at the heart of Christ’s commission: “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). At PIWC Hemel Hempstead, we are dedicated to stimulating a passion for missions through:
- Teaching and Preaching on Missions: By emphasizing the urgency of spreading the Gospel, we inspire members to adopt a missional mindset.
- Supporting Missionary Work: Financially and prayerfully, we contribute to local and global missions, partnering with like-minded organizations.
- Empowering Members for Evangelism: Through workshops and outreach events, we equip believers to share their faith confidently (1 Peter 3:15).
Impact: A church with a mission-focused membership becomes a hub for outreach, ensuring that the Gospel reaches both the local community and the nations.
5. Creating Culture-Shaping Disciples
Jesus commanded His followers to “make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). Discipleship is not merely about personal transformation but also about cultural impact. At PIWC Hemel Hempstead, we prioritize creating culture-shaping disciples by:
- Encouraging Faith-Driven Leadership: As Joseph influenced Egypt (Genesis 41) and Esther preserved her people (Esther 4), believers are empowered to lead in their respective fields.
- Teaching Practical Application of Faith: Through seminars and discussions, we explore how biblical principles apply to contemporary issues such as family, ethics, and social justice.
- Celebrating Kingdom Influence: Sharing testimonies of members who are shaping culture encourages others to follow suit.
Impact: Culture-shaping disciples bring Kingdom values into every sphere of influence, transforming industries, institutions, and communities.
Influencing the Community with the Gospel
Our vision directs us to be not only a church within the walls but a church within the community. Specific strategies include:
- Engaging the Marginalized: Jesus ministered to the outcasts (Luke 19:10). By addressing needs such as food insecurity and loneliness, we demonstrate God’s love tangibly.
- Hosting Community Events: Open forums, youth programs, and family enrichment seminars create opportunities to build relationships and share the Gospel.
- Partnerships with Local Organizations: Collaborating with schools, charities, and civic groups allows us to expand our reach and impact.
Building the Church: As we influence the community, we also strengthen the church by:
- Fostering Unity: Psalm 133:1 reminds us that unity brings God’s blessing. By working together in love and humility, we ensure the church remains strong and effective.
- Encouraging Generosity: Members are encouraged to give sacrificially to support ministry programs (2 Corinthians 9:7).
- Investing in Youth and Families: By nurturing the next generation, we ensure a legacy of faith and leadership.
Conclusion: A Vision Worth Pursuing
The vision of PIWC Hemel Hempstead is a biblical mandate to build a church that thrives in faith, influences culture, and reaches the lost. As we make and deploy mature, intentional, transformational, and supernatural Christians, we will see lives changed, communities impacted, and God’s Kingdom advanced.
Let us rise together, united in purpose and empowered by the Spirit, to fulfill this calling for the glory of God.
